Further details
The Level 3 Security Management (RQF) course is designed for aspiring security managers, experienced security professionals, supervisors, team leaders, and organisational leaders who want to develop a stronger understanding of how effective security operations are planned, managed, monitored and improved.
In today’s security environment, the role of the Security Manager is both demanding and essential. Security managers are responsible for protecting people, property, assets, information, reputation and business continuity. Their work extends beyond daily guarding operations and includes leadership, risk management, operational planning, compliance, staff welfare, emergency preparedness and performance improvement.
This course introduces learners to the fundamental principles of security management and provides practical guidance on how to manage security teams, produce operational documents, monitor performance, create staff rotas, develop patrol plans, carry out training needs analysis, support compliance, and report effectively to clients and stakeholders.
Learners will explore how security managers protect brand image, develop assignment instructions, manage absenteeism, plan for contingencies, evidence patrol activity, produce training matrices, and use key performance indicators to monitor individual and team performance.
The course also covers important operational areas including evacuation planning, target hardening, patrol management, perimeter breaches, suspicious packages, hostile vehicle mitigation, person searches, bag searches, vehicle searches, building zones, cordons, rendezvous points and major incident response.
A strong emphasis is placed on leadership and people management. Learners will consider the difference between leadership and management, how to motivate teams, delegate tasks, manage misconduct, support staff welfare, identify stress-related risks, conduct briefings and debriefings, and use appraisals and personal development plans to improve team performance.
By the end of the course, learners should have a stronger understanding of how to manage a professional security operation, support staff, reduce risk, protect organisational reputation, respond to incidents, and maintain effective security standards across a site or organisation.
