Further details

The QNUK Level 3 Certificate for Close Protection (International) (RQF) is designed for learners who want to develop the professional knowledge, judgement and operational understanding required to work within the close protection industry.

This course focuses on the core principles of professional close protection, including the role and responsibilities of the close protection operative, threat assessment, risk management, surveillance awareness, venue security, operational planning, route planning, protective movement, vehicle procedures, conflict management and teamwork.

Close protection is not simply about standing beside a principal or reacting when something goes wrong. At its best, close protection is planned, disciplined, discreet and preventative. The role of the close protection operative is to reduce risk, protect the principal, support normal movement and activity, and maintain a safe environment without creating unnecessary attention or disruption.

Throughout the course, learners will develop an understanding of how close protection operations are planned and delivered. This includes assessing threats, identifying vulnerabilities, preparing routes and venues, managing arrivals and departures, recognising surveillance indicators, communicating effectively as part of a team, and responding professionally to changes in the environment.

The course also places strong emphasis on professionalism, integrity, communication, calmness under pressure, discretion and personal responsibility. Learners are encouraged to think beyond physical protection and understand the wider protective role, including reputation, privacy, information security, family considerations, property protection and the principal’s lifestyle.

By the end of the programme, learners should have a stronger understanding of how close protection teams operate, how risk is assessed and managed, how protective plans are created, and how professional operatives support the safety, confidence and continuity of the principal.

This course is suitable for those seeking a structured international close protection qualification and for security professionals who wish to develop their knowledge, confidence and competence in professional close protection operations.
